Meet the person behind Slapstick

Yash Gandhi, a name as profound as the man himself. The heart, soul, head, mind- well he’s basically the live-wire behind Slapstick Motion Studios! Yash is a creative wizard, armed with 9+ years of experience in doing what he does best-bringing pixels, graphics, and characters moving to life! Having graduated with a master’s degree in animation from St.Xavier’s College, Kolkata he is driven by an unshakeable addiction to coffee, comedy and converting imagination to magic. On days he is not animating he is either debating the physics of cartoon gravity or convincing the world that drawing stick figures was totally their Phase One.

YASH
GANDHI

Yash’s journey is no story of rags to riches. It’s a story of wonders to wonders which in itself is no short of an animated adventure. From what started out as a journey of being a motion maker for agencies, to narrating visual stories for Ed-tech and then crafting content for a SaaS company-Yash’s journey has come full circle with him donning the founder’s hat today! He started out as a freelancer in College, managing internships in between the hustle of completing a degree(because who needs to sleep, sip and chill anyway)? Yash has evolved himself into a man driven by core ethics, great professional competency, and an uncanny knack for making people laugh-all along while doing it seamlessly!

How We Work

Our 5-Stage Process

01

Step

01

Ideation

This is the very first stage where we try to define the purpose, goal, and messaging to be derived from your content. Once we have these in place, we zero in on the stylisation. Usually if references are shared beforehand, it helps expedite the process of defining the best way to deliver your content visually.

02

Step

02

Scripting

Once we have defined the broader idea, we get into the scripting phase. At this stage we document the narrative flow of the entire video. The narrative in text format is combined and presented with the dialogues, interludes, on-screen texts and supers.

03

Step

03

Storyboarding

In the third phase we slowly get into the visual part of the narrative. We start off by drafting a visual flow for the video, either in the manner of a sketch or by putting together relevant screens and vectors. This step is particularly very useful for clients to develop an understanding about the visual style and language of the video. At this stage clients make additions or alternations to the script or screenplay in case there are some missing dots.

Voice-Over+Music Selection

This step onwards we move into the audio aspect of the video. We send across a list of voice-over options, across various accents, nationalities and genders. Once we have the voice-over artist selected, we send across the script for recording. We greatly encourage our clients to freeze the script and storyboard before we can move into recording the voice-over. Simultaneously, we also share music options from our library.
